Finding New Customers
It seems that we struggle so hard finding and attracting new customers. The traditional methods of advertising are not as efficient as they use to be. I remember not so long ago when the yellow pages was the place to go if you needed a remodeling contractor or a computer specialist. Times have change and also have our client base. Consumers have become much more educated and savvy when it comes to finding and hiring a contractor. Consumers are using the internet more now to research how to's and information on the subject of interest. This means that we have to be much more educated and professional when we visit them to do our presentation or when they visit our stores. Chances are that they have done their homework. In my opinion, you have to mix your advertising and marketing. If you are a local business depending of a narrow geographical area, you must keep a presence in your local paper to include local radio. But the best type of advertising is the "belly to belly presentation". This means that on the days of famine and when we are waiting for the phone to ring, we need to take a stack of business cards and go spread the word to every business that could potentially refer us. If you are not familiar with the internet nor you have a website, you need to be! When used properly, a website can bring you a few new job leads per week.
